Laboratory Technician
Ihre Aufgaben
As a technician/operatoryou perform complex physical and/or chemical analyses on mineral raw materials according to established and experimental laboratory methods. You use advanced analytical and area-specific instrumentation as well as industry-specific processing methods. You are responsible for logging in samples, entering data (also using LIMS), results reporting and communication.
Additionally, you are responsible for daily operation and routine maintenance of automated system (hard- and software) for sample preparation and analyses. Taking over power user (lab representative) responsibilities for Omya Service LIMS for the Mineralogy & Beneficiation department.
- Perform lab-scale mineral processing operations (crushing, grinding, sorting)
- Perform advanced and non-routine mineral material analysis using a variety of analytical techniques (e.g. particle size analysis, rheometers, spectroscopy, etc)
- Perform maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of sample preparation and analytical instruments
- Adapt mineral processing equipment and/or conditions to meet the specific experimental objective
- Setting up and maintaining automated sample preparation and analyses system for rack
- Taking over power user (lab representative) responsibilities for Omya Service LIMS for CC M&B department.
- As required, show expertise in the processing of minerals through the use of crushers, mills, sorting equipment, ... and/or perform physical, chemical, optical and performance tests on mineral powders
- Logging sample information and test results management into computer-based data retention system or LIMS
- Analytical methods R&D (analyzers and wet chemistry)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Ihr Profil
- Lab technician qualification
- Additional education (B.Eng.) and/or practical experience in robotics/mechatronics, automation or similar mechanical/electrical engineering field preferred
- Preferably: 5 years of
laboratory or relevant experience (mineral processing and analytics) and 2
years experience in robotics/mechatronics
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity to operate various tests on basic and complex lab equipment is essential
- Excellent computer and software skills, programming, robot controlled systems management
- LIMS knowledge and experience
- Good organization and communication skills
- Good command of both oral and written local language and English
- Strong interest in programming, and in robot controlled systems
- Ability to travel as required (<5%)
